It's November! November again! Yotsuba is here and it's November again! I've been here for ages, a year is a really long time. Yotsuba has been here for... [Please hold while the little girl counts on her fingers for a moment. Teeen, eleeeveeen-] Twelve mumps! And... Too many days! Yotsuba has been here forever!

[Considering she's been here 'forever', Yotsuba looks incredibly happy. And with good reason, for today is her birthday... Well, no, it isn't. Heavens if she knows how birthdays work when you're not back home. She's talked to Yuri about her birthday before and most of that conversation went over her head, so you know what? November is her birthday. Just any day in November, she doesn't care when.]

Today Yotsuba wants a cake, so can we have cake?! Make it strawberry today, it feels like a strawberry day. It has to taste like a dream! Ohhh, and presents, really cool presents! What do you want for your presents Mister Cicada?

[Yotsuba looks away from the journal at the cicada toy she has. Hm, what's that? I want... A giant TV... And a hot air balloon.]

That's too much Mister Cicada, no presents for you! [...] Don't make that face at me! Nooo! Oh, Yotsuba almost forgot, almost!

[To finish up her journal entry about demanding cake and presents without explaining anything, Yotsuba disappears from the journal. There's the sound of a few doors slamming in the background and she goes looking for something she picked up earlier and then decided to hide in case Naoi found it... She hid it in the bathroom behind the shower curtain.

A minute or two later and she's back with a birthday balloon. Sixty is like six with just a zero on the end, close enough.]

Okay!! I'm ready for presents and cake now!

Only six years old? Shouldn't an older Panda who has a job get more cake? I'm so hard-working, you know, even though I don't like putting in effort at all.

Pandas don't mold. It's like you've already started to, though.

[No she hasn't!! ... But then that would mean she wasn't mature, and she is totally mature. But she doesn't want to be some yucky mould!]

No!! No no, you're wrong! Stop it, Yotsuba is not mouldy!!

[Better just throw a tantrum about it.]

Ehhh...but your hair is so green.

[Pauses. Hmm, he didn't want to upset her, he just wanted a birthday, too. His own was being replaced with a group birthday for his two brothers.]

Yotsuba, what would you rather have for your birthday? A panda-shaped shaved ice maker, or a panda backpack?

Green hair is all the rage, don't get angry! Yotsuba is the height of fashion!!

[Hmph! ... Wait, panda stuff? She has a bag that she uses for school, but a panda one would be pretty neat. What the heck is that other thing though?]

Let's see...you put ice in the machine, turn the handle, and it makes shaved ice you can eat.

[That description sounds very similar to the toy her dad bought which helped him make coffee. That stuff tasted disgusting though.]

Is it good? Yucky things taste bad, even if grown-ups like drinking dirty brown water.

You add fruit syrup to make it taste like whatever you want, even strawberries! It's like eating flavored snow.

I like snow! [Welp. She's sold.]

Can you add lots of yummy things, like banana syrup too? Bananas and strawberries... [Yum. Sounds delicious.] It's like a miracle!

You can add all kinds of syrup! I think there's even blue raspberry, even though raspberries aren't blue. Or bamboo syrup, but I don't know how to make that yet.

The raspberries must be cold, when you eat them the raspberries warm up and turn pink! Can you put golden syrup all over it? Sticky!

Oh, nooo, I don't think you should use gold syrup on it...

It's syrup that's all gold and sticky. [Helpful.]

Ehhh...I've never seen a syrup like that.

I have, Yotsuba has seen it before! It's in the kitchen, but no one uses it. Not even Yuri.

Hmm...could it be that it's too sophisticated for children? I want to try some.

No it's not! I can get it right now!!

[So off she stomps to the kitchen to dig around in the cupboards. It takes her a minute or so to figure out where she saw it last, but once Yotsuba spots it it only takes her a few seconds to grab it and race back to her room and the journal.

The whole video is now taken up by a can out golden syrup being pressed into it.]

Ehh...I've never seen that before. Are you going to eat it? Tell me what it's like, Yotsuba-chan!

[Of course she's going to eat it! She just has to figure out how to get into the tin.

Maybe smacking it against the floor?! No that didn't do it... What about smacking it against the floor again?! ... AND AGAIN- Oh, there we go.

The syrup ends up splattering over the floor, which is just perfect for Yotsuba to dip her hands in and scoop some syrup into her mouth.]

It tastes sticky. [...] It's a pass!

Ehhhh...I want to try some, too. Can you bring me some, Yotsuba? I'll give you your present if you do.

[He doesn't want to leave today. He's feeling very lazy.]

Ohhh, okay. That's a good deal!

[She'll be over right away. As soon as she realises that she should probably ask where Panda is staying.

But before she can even think of getting up there is a problem. There is syrup everywhere. When Yotsuba goes to pick up her journal the pages end up sticking to her hands. When her hands are freed they inevitably end up sticking to something else. The floor, her shirt, her hair her hair ow ow ow...
