It's November! November again! Yotsuba is here and it's November again! I've been here for ages, a year is a really long time. Yotsuba has been here for... [Please hold while the little girl counts on her fingers for a moment. Teeen, eleeeveeen-] Twelve mumps! And... Too many days! Yotsuba has been here forever!

[Considering she's been here 'forever', Yotsuba looks incredibly happy. And with good reason, for today is her birthday... Well, no, it isn't. Heavens if she knows how birthdays work when you're not back home. She's talked to Yuri about her birthday before and most of that conversation went over her head, so you know what? November is her birthday. Just any day in November, she doesn't care when.]

Today Yotsuba wants a cake, so can we have cake?! Make it strawberry today, it feels like a strawberry day. It has to taste like a dream! Ohhh, and presents, really cool presents! What do you want for your presents Mister Cicada?

[Yotsuba looks away from the journal at the cicada toy she has. Hm, what's that? I want... A giant TV... And a hot air balloon.]

That's too much Mister Cicada, no presents for you! [...] Don't make that face at me! Nooo! Oh, Yotsuba almost forgot, almost!

[To finish up her journal entry about demanding cake and presents without explaining anything, Yotsuba disappears from the journal. There's the sound of a few doors slamming in the background and she goes looking for something she picked up earlier and then decided to hide in case Naoi found it... She hid it in the bathroom behind the shower curtain.

A minute or two later and she's back with a birthday balloon. Sixty is like six with just a zero on the end, close enough.]

Okay!! I'm ready for presents and cake now!

Yotsuba has seen cows before, they're big and black and white and you should clap when they give you milk, the cow did a good job! And elephants! They're really big and they come from In-di-a, because they're indian elephants. Ohhh, and dolphins! And penguins, I really like penguins! Have you seen a penguin before? A penguin can slide on its tummy and go whoosh! [...] But Captain Jack told Yotsuba about scary penguins, so dolphins. Dolphins please!

Dolphins, huh. But I don't know how penguins can be scary. I love penguins, and penguin sledding is really fun!

Penguins are really cute! But Captain Jack told Yotsuba all about, uhm... Flappy Space Waterwings and McBoy! [...] And there was a Penguin Tower, a Tower of Penguins! Penguins can balance on top of each other and be super strong, you can't knock them over!

[She might not remember all of the story exactly, but that's the gist of it. Sort of.]

But that sounds cool, not scary! I'm glad penguins can balance on top of each other and not get knocked over, because it'll protect them from being eaten! And it'll help them to protect the ones they care about.

It will? [Well that sort of makes sense... Maybe the penguin tower was used to keep people safe and not to hide people! It's possible! Cool penguins sound better than creepy penguins anyway.] ... People eat penguins?! Why...

If anyone ate penguins, it would be because they're mean. But I was thinking more of other animals that could try to eat them, like a polar bear dog.

[Nod nod.] Mean people eat peng- [WHAT ON EARTH IS A POLAR BEAR DOG WHAT ARE YOU DOING AANG ARE YOU TRYING TO SCARE HER.]

Polar bear dog?! [Oh gosh oh gosh oh gosh uhm-] Woof woof bark woof bark!! Yotsuba isn't afraid of polar bear dogs!!

You're real brave, Yotsuba! But don't worry, there aren't any polar bear dogs here. They're known for being rough and people think they can't be tamed. But I know someone who will in the future, and I think that one acts more like a big old puppy dog!

The bravest!! [And don't you or any polar bear dogs out there forget it.] Yotsuba can tame things to, like this.

[For moment she sits very still and stares down the journal... Then suddenly, thwack. TAKE THAT JOURNAL.]

Bad dog, no!

I bet you can, Yotsuba! But you should be really really nice to pets.

It's okay, Yotsuba is really good to pets. Especially good pets, then it's ever gooder.
