TWO ⌘ Yotsuba and Christmas [Video|Action]

[This would be Yotsuba's first real Christmas. Back home they never had the chance to celebrate in their new home before she was taken here. It was all so exciting, seeing all the bright lights and the snow.

The journal opens to show a small figure practically glued to the window of her apartment, staring out into the snow and lights. It really is beautiful you know, especially when it's your first time seeing anything like this.

Yotsuba turns to her journal and gives it a big wave and a huge smile before running over, picking the journal up and returning to the window. Anyone watching will now have a nice view from room 26 of building 5 of the surrounding area from the window. She's really excited you guys.]

It's so pretty! Look, look, do you see all the lights?! Christmas! This is definitely Christmas isn't it?!

[It's a shame Daddy isn't here to spend it with her... It had taken awhile, but she's used to Daddy not being here with her now. After all, he's going to appear someday and take her away and be all sorts of proud of her for being a big, brave girl whilst she was here.]

Gonna have lots of fun! Daddy, will you be having fun too? Don't eat too much, you'll get fat. Work hard! Don't break anything!!

[After reminding her father or what to do and not to do, she'll go back to staring out the window and will remain this way for a long time.]

[Otonashi had asked Yotsuba if she wanted to go out for a little while as he did a few Christmas-related errands, and of course she jumped at the opportunity!

Whilst Otonashi was busy, Yotsuba went off to explore. All this snow is fun, all these lights are fun, all this everything is fun!! Do you understand how much fun this is?! It's very fun!

During her explorations, Yotsuba finds herself outside the item shop, looking up at the door frame. Seems as though there's some mistletoe hanging there.

What is it? Why is it there? Can she eat it?]

[--But wait, what is that thing on her back? ...Yeah she's never seen a crossbow before. And it looks... Pretty strange. What is that for?

Is Buffy really a robot or something and that's some sort of mechanism on her back that makes her run?!]

[ huh. small child.

oh: ] Y-Yotsuba?

Right, you remembered Yotsuba! Well done!

[Clapping her hands together for a moment-- But then her attention is right back to that crossbow.]

Fluff-- [Wait.] Buffy. What's that on your back? Is it bad?

[ she is being congratulated by a small child. what is her life. ]

Huh. Uhm. It's...nah, it's not bad. Think of it as my security blanket, if you want.

Ohhh okay, like a blanket.

[And yet it looks nothing like any blanket she's seen before. Must be a new brand or something like that...]

If it makes you feel safe then it's good to have around. Don't leave it anywhere!

[ a twitch of a smile. ]

I'll do my very best not to, Boxergirl. That's a solemn promise.

A promise that will never be broken, never ever!

[Because that's what you do with promises dontcha know.]

Hey, Buffy, you're clever right? [Yes, she needs to ask to make sure.]

[ perhaps from any other small child, she might be taken aback by this question. but banana marshmallows and juries have blasted just about any chance for surprise out of the water. ]

Hmm. Now and then. Sure. Cleverish. Why?

Okay, good. [Taking a step closer to grab Buffy sleeve. If Buffy isn't the type to be dragged around by a five year old, Yotsuba will quite happily run back to the door of the shop and expecting Buffy to follow.

Either way, once Yotsuba is back over near the door she points up at the mistletoe.] What's that? It doesn't look like it's meant to be there. Do you eat it?

[ there is an initial resistance; that is, instinctively, the slayer's heels dig into the wood floor. but she needs only a moment to give in and stumble semi-smoothly along with the girl.

she does indeed falter once the question is posed, though. ]

That? What? No. Non-edible. It's...it's mistletoe. Kind of a grown-up thing.

Oh, so it's not for Yotsuba.

[Grown-up things are for grown-ups only, so she should probably ignore it now... But curiosity be damned.]

What does it do then? Is there a height rest-... ree-stric-tion?

W-well...when a man and a woman love ea--[ nah. she can't do it.

a straight expression conquers her face. ] It's a Christmas thing. Grown-ups are supposed to kiss under it.

[ and buffy herself is rather short but she joins the girl in the doorway and reaches up to the dramatically angled leaves. perhaps to try and tear the sprig down. in the name of village safety. ]

[Cocking her head to one side. Why did you stop talking there Buffy?

Oh, never mind, she has an answer now.] Why are they meant to do that? Does it make them kiss and if they don't they get in trouble?

[...This sounds like a bad thing now. Very bad.]

Well, I don't think anything bad happens. It's not...like a crime not to. Just a flirty little option for those willing to give away their kisses a little too freely over the holidays.

What does 'flirty' mean? This missiletoe stuff is very confusing.

You'll...understand when you're older. Don't rush it.

Ohhh okay. So five isn't old enough. Maybe when Yotsuba is six everything will make more sense!

[Looking around for a short moment, and then taking a quick glance at the mistletoe... Pfft, like age has ever stopped her before. She has the gist of this.]

Hey Buffy, Buffy! Yotsuba needs to tell you a secret! [Motioning for Buffy to come closer.] Need to whisper in your ear!

Six'll be just about right. Come back and ask me again when you're six. I'll give you all the low-down on how to let a guy know you wanna swap fingerpaint sets.

[ and so she obliged, crouching next to the girl. ] Hope it's not gonna be one of those hard to keep secrets.

Noooo, it's a really easy secret to keep.

[Quickly giving Buffy a little kiss on the cheek before running off as fast as her little legs can carry her into the shop. It's only meant for grown-ups, but she did it anyway. Yes, right now she feels like the best five year old ever.

Just going to hide behind a few shelves of items. Best hiding spot ever.]

Ohhhh, fingerpainting!? [Though it seems she doesn't care about being kept hidden when she ends up shouting about fingerpainting anyway...]

[ what a brat. ]

[ but what an adorable brat at that. after her initial surprise, the slayer's grimace breaks into a sudden and genuine grin. ]

H-hey! That? That wasn't playing fair. [ she straightens and takes the first four steps back into the shop. ]

Nuh uh, it was fair! Yotsuba used lots of thinking to do that. Lots and lots of thinking! [It was the best of plans.

Slooowly peaking her head out from the side of the shelf she's hiding behind-- And quickly zooms off further into the shop once she notices Buffy stepping closer.

There is giggling, and laughter, and she's having so much fun right now.]

[ you know what? screw grumpy-but-previously-not-grumpy-pirates and their war on fun. buffy tracks the girl's progress through the store with relative ease but opts not to press her supernatural advantage.

nope. she'll take the loooong way around -- pretending as though she's actually having a hard time keeping tabs. ]

Huh. Now where'd she go?

[Can she... Really not find her?! Oh wow, this really is the best hiding place! In her mind, Yotsuba is now the best at staying hidden. If there were some sort of hide and seek competition Yotsuba would win, hands down.

She stops running and turns to peek out from behind another shelf, still giggling.]

Shhhh. Gotta be quiet! Never gonna find me~♫

I will if you keep on singing. Championship hide-and-seeking requires complete silence...

[ buffy's voice rings out over the store. there's something slightly...authoritative about it. an instructor's voice, if not a teacher's. ]
