Happy with the state over her 'sugarified' brownie, Yotsube gets up from her seat and moves around next to Buffy and cups her hand over her mouth. Time for some more super secret talking which no one else is meant to hear.]

When you find out why Captain Jack is being all blaaah you should tell Yotsuba why so Yotsuba can say sorry again. Okay. Also brownies are really yummy.

[With that done Yotsuba returns to her chair to devour the poor brownie.]

Stuck sorta-in-the-middle but mostly tending towards Yotsuba's side of this sticky situation, Buffy had to at least admit that Jack's final point was a fair one. She was young. Probably even too young to be hanging out with a Vampire Slayer, let alone a pirate.

"And maybe, by then? When you're ready? Jack will've learned some manners. If I have any say in the matter."

[ freaked out and suspicious as she is, she thinks it best to smooth a few ruffled pirate feathers before he leaves. ]

[Slamming her hands onto the table and literally bouncing up and down in her seat.]

It really was the bestest one, right!? It was really big and really cool and Yotsuba wanted to see it again because it was so cool! And it was piratey, really piratey!!

[Turning to look right at Jack. No escape.]

[Hang on...you might be winning him over by a completely unexpected route.]

[Does he need more 'really's? Because she can go on for much longer! But for now she's going to eat some more of this brownie and get more than a little cream all over her face.]

Mmmm. She is, isn't she.

[A dreamy expression comes over Jack's face.]

[But then it is quickly replaced by something of the gruff variety.]

'Course she is. She's my boat. She couldn't be any less than really really really...a lot...a lot of reallys pirate-y! You've got a good eye for boats, then, haven't you, girl?

Good eyes and a goodish teacher, at least. Maybe. Nah...not really.

Ohhh, Buffy is a good teacher, because she took Yotsuba to the boats and pointed out which one was JJ. She said it was the nicest boat of all and we had to go nowish. So we did!

[Om nom nom brownie. All over her face. Yes. This is the best way to eat a brownie.]

Buffy is one of the best of us all, lass. I owe her a great deal. [He stands up to take his leave of them both.] She'll look after you a bit, eh?

[ as jack stood, she caught his hand and tapped her cheek. one for the road? ]

That's okay, I know that Yotsuba is in good hands for a bit and that Buffy is one of the best!

[Next time? The idea causes his stomach to clench, but not as badly as before. He leans down to give Buffy a kiss, not on the cheek, but on the lips. Brief but tender. Then, to Yotsuba:]

You just make certain you wear it, child. Won't do to catch your death, savvy?

[And that will really be his last word on the matter before he turns to leave.]

Well. That went...interestingly.

[ buffy watches the pirate leave with indecision on her face but -- ah, after that? ]

So. How goes dessert?

Yotsuba agrees, very interesting.

[Nodding her head with a completely serious expression. A serious expression which is coated in brownie, cream and butterscotch sauce.]

It was good, Yotsuba gives it a ten. It was very yummy. So were the pancakes.

Yeah, he's very nice to Yotsuba. He was like this when Yotsuba first met him, and when Yotsuba got a pony ride on Murphy, and when Yotsuba played games and made a coffin with Captain Jack,

Oh, Yotsuba would say he was 'rough around the sides', is that right? You need some sandpaper, and then you rub it all over him, and then he would be smooth.

I don't think there's enough sandpaper in all of Luceti for those rough edges.
