FIVE ⌘ Yotsuba and Running Away [Written?|Action]

[Otonashi left yesterday. That meant that now Yotsuba was stuck in a house with that loser Naoi. The fact he was really kind a little while back at the beach but now he's really mean again is more than a little confusing to the girl. Yuri is still here but right now all Yotsuba is thinking of is the bad stuff. Namely no more Otonashi and lots more stupid, mean Naoi.

What she does next seems like a brilliant idea! This will totally bring Otonashi back and make Naoi be nice again, and if it doesn't then oh well at least she's not living in the same house as him anymore.

This badly scrawled message appears on the journals:]

[Now then! If she's running away she needs lots of important things. For one her pink fluffy coat that Jack gave her to keep warm, a ton of food from the fridge, the viking helmet and fishing pole thing that Hiccup got her, the cicada plushie Otonashi left for her...

It isn't until she tries leaving the house with all her belongings that she realises this is a bad idea. So instead she settles on the coat and the plushie. Sacrifices have to be made if you're running away! Sadly these sacrifices also include her journal so she won't be replying to her little goodbye message.

Morning
This is a great idea! Running away from home is the best thing she's ever decided to do! Otonashi will be trying to find his way back now and Naoi is probably feeling really bad about pulling her hair and telling her to shut up all the time. Yuri is probably shouting at him for it too! Haha, yes, running away has solved everything! Yotsuba happily marches around the village with a big smile on her face, more than a little proud at how she thinks her plan is going.

Midday
Hungry... Why didn't she bring some food with her? Maybe she'll wander on over to Seventh Heaven and see if she can get some food from there, they make awesome pancakes after all. Or maybe the bakery! Or she could settle for staring at passers-by with big, open eyes until they give her something to eat. Screw taking candy from strangers she's hungry!!

Afternoon
Maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all. Now she's getting cold. And hungry again. And Otonashi hasn't come back and found her yet... She wants to go home. The problem is Yotsuba has wandered so far away from home by this point that she's in a part of the village she doesn't even recognise. Now she's lost, cold, hungry and really upset. How is she going to get home now?]

Waaaaaaaah!! Yotsuba wants to go home!! Wanna go hooome!!

[She's seriously falling asleep on him? ...Oh wait, she's up again.]

Well, that was a short night.

[Then he approaches her as she begins playing with the blocks.]

So what exactly do you build with these?

Everything! Houses and animals and- These are animals, okay?

[Picking up a big block and a much smaller one.]

This is the elefant, and this is the monkey. They're really good friends!

[Turning around and shouting at another block on the floor.]

STAY THERE TURTLE... You too koala!!

[That just makes him want to headdesk. Sure, she's five, but still, kids ought to have some common sense.]

...Don't worry, I don't think they're going anywhere.

Now, what other rooms can you show me?

No more play time? Okay.

[Standing up, but not before giving the turtle and koala another stern glare, and then leading Jay into the next room...]

Bathroom! [Pointing at the shower-] Snake!

Oh, there'll be plenty of play time.

[Following her into the bathroom and looking at the shower.]

Um...that would be a shower.

Snake! [Allow her to jump into the bath and start wrestling with the shower to prove this.] This one is feisty, gotta fight it!

[One day he's going to have to bring her into the Battle Dome and show her some real monsters...]

Here, let me help you with that.

[Taking the shower head "snake" and slamming it down on the bathtub several times before letting it fall limp.]

There, it's dead.

[...Staring. Wow Jay you just sucked all the fun out of 'lets pretend the shower head is a snake' by savagely beating it like that...

Good job though!]

Bye snake, you lived a good life. Olé!

[Hopping out of the tub.]

Yurippe's room next!

[Oh, this is nothing. You should see how Jay beats the shit out of the real monsters.]

A shame its life has ended. Let's hope it learned its lesson.

[Following her into Yurippe's room. What will they find in there?]

[It's mostly a clean, normal looking room without anything too fantastic about it.

Except for the bag of chips Yotsuba seems to have found and pulled out of her drawer to munch on. Silly Yuri, leaving food in places Yotsuba can reach.]

This is it.

[Waving her hand out across the room. Bed, closet, chest of drawers. Yup, nothing too special. Plenty of hidden stuff Yotsuba doesn't know about, but at a glance it's perfectly normal.]

[Jay will just take a brief glance around the room. He could search through the closet and the drawers if he wanted to, but he sees no reason to do so...yet.]

I see. Very nice.

[Don't mind her eating these chips, she won't be a minute.]

[Ooor maybe she will. Seems she's forgotten all about this tour in favour of eating the rest of Yuri's food.

Priorities are wonderful things.]

[Just tapping his foot. He doesn't have patience for little things like this.]

...Are you about done?

No.

[It's very important that she finishes these okay? And once she does it's equally important that she goes and brings another bag of chips into Yuri's room to replace the ones she just ate.

Turning to Jay with a serious look.]

Shhh!

[Just a heavy sigh and a facepalm here. But he'll keep your secret...this time.]

All right...what else can you show me?

There's still Nowy's room and the kitchen. The kitchen is the best!

[Sounds as though she wants to go to the kitchen.]

[Saving the best for last, hmm? He can deal with that.]

All right, let's see it.

[Walking out of Yuri's room, down the steps which raise up that part of the house and heading into the kitchen!

Once there Yotsuba pulls out one of those stool steps kids stand on to reach the counter tops and she claps her hands together.]

Today's special is daikon raddish with daikon soup. And corn!

[Jay looks up at the cabinets, wondering what other foods they might have up there.]

Daikon? I've never heard of that before...

Do you have scallops?

Daikon is cheap, it's good to have in these rough times. This economy is awful.

[There is no economy what is money... She probably doesn't even know what the economy is past reading it in one of her dad's newspapers.]

... There's salmon.

Salmon will do, I suppose. Does Yurippe do the cooking in here?

[Because she already said that Naoi can't cook, and he can't see Yotsuba cooking either.]

Nope, Nowy doesn't cook, Yurippe doesn't cook, Yotsuba doesn't cook.

[None of them can cook. And yet they have salmon, probably from when Otonashi was here.]

None of you can cook? It's a good thing the restaurants are free then.

But what will you do with that salmon?

[Good question. It'll probably just go to waste if it's not eaten.... Idea!]

It's a souvenir!

[Running to the fridge and pulling out the cut of salmon.]

You can take it as a souvenir from Yotsuba's house! And then Yotsuba can get a souvenir back sometime.

[Enjoy your salmon Jay.]

[Happily taking the salmon. Now onto the real business.]

Now...doesn't "Nowy" have a room in this house?
