FIVE ⌘ Yotsuba and Running Away [Written?|Action]

[Otonashi left yesterday. That meant that now Yotsuba was stuck in a house with that loser Naoi. The fact he was really kind a little while back at the beach but now he's really mean again is more than a little confusing to the girl. Yuri is still here but right now all Yotsuba is thinking of is the bad stuff. Namely no more Otonashi and lots more stupid, mean Naoi.

What she does next seems like a brilliant idea! This will totally bring Otonashi back and make Naoi be nice again, and if it doesn't then oh well at least she's not living in the same house as him anymore.

This badly scrawled message appears on the journals:]

[Now then! If she's running away she needs lots of important things. For one her pink fluffy coat that Jack gave her to keep warm, a ton of food from the fridge, the viking helmet and fishing pole thing that Hiccup got her, the cicada plushie Otonashi left for her...

It isn't until she tries leaving the house with all her belongings that she realises this is a bad idea. So instead she settles on the coat and the plushie. Sacrifices have to be made if you're running away! Sadly these sacrifices also include her journal so she won't be replying to her little goodbye message.

Morning
This is a great idea! Running away from home is the best thing she's ever decided to do! Otonashi will be trying to find his way back now and Naoi is probably feeling really bad about pulling her hair and telling her to shut up all the time. Yuri is probably shouting at him for it too! Haha, yes, running away has solved everything! Yotsuba happily marches around the village with a big smile on her face, more than a little proud at how she thinks her plan is going.

Midday
Hungry... Why didn't she bring some food with her? Maybe she'll wander on over to Seventh Heaven and see if she can get some food from there, they make awesome pancakes after all. Or maybe the bakery! Or she could settle for staring at passers-by with big, open eyes until they give her something to eat. Screw taking candy from strangers she's hungry!!

Afternoon
Maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all. Now she's getting cold. And hungry again. And Otonashi hasn't come back and found her yet... She wants to go home. The problem is Yotsuba has wandered so far away from home by this point that she's in a part of the village she doesn't even recognise. Now she's lost, cold, hungry and really upset. How is she going to get home now?]

Waaaaaaaah!! Yotsuba wants to go home!! Wanna go hooome!!

He got taken back home and now he's dead!! That's really scary!!

[Apparently all her housemates were dead back on their world. She doesn't really get it herself though she does understand that death is very bad.]

I see...so he won't be coming back.

What about "Nowy?" Did you run away from home to get away from him?

[Slow nod.] Yeah, but Yurippe is going to tell him off for being so mean and then everything will get better.

[Or at least that's what she thinks will happen. Or rather hopes.]

Well, we'll see if that works.

The next time you run away, try staying at a friend's house.

[Seeing how poorly this whole running away thing went she won't be trying again for the longest time, but this is still good to know.]

Okay, Yotsuba will find a friend to stay with next time. [...] If I run away again can Yotsuba stay with you?

[And another one of those WTF moments.]

But...my home is a secret...

[Sigh...maybe he can find another place to have guests.]

If you say that "Nowy" is always mean again later, I wouldn't trust things to get better if I were you...

[Ever the pessimist, he is...]

...Yotsuba is good with secrets.

[Hahahnooo no she is not.]

They might get better, they might!!

[Yeah, Jay isn't going to trust a little kid to keep her mouth shut. But he skips that part and moves on to the second.]

And what if they don't?

Then Yotsuba will fix it, I don't know!! Waaaah!!

[Back to sobbing again now. Like she knows what'll happen if things don't fix themselves, she does not possess magical foresight into these things!]

[Enough with the cryiiiinnnng...]

All right, all right...first things first. Do you still want to go home, or do you want to stay with a friend?

[Seeing as she misses her bed, her toys and actually thinks this idea wasn't so great anymore--]

Home! Yotsuba wants to go home!

[Sigh...that wasn't the answer he was hoping for, but oh well. She'd be a pain to babysit in this condition anyway.]

All right, let's go.

[Moving towards the village now.]

[Following on behind Jay, still sobbing and making all sorts of noise. She's also waving her arms around and trying to reach out to Jay as he walks off.]

Hold hands, hold hands!

[But he doesn't wanna hold ha--oh, all right...]

[Arriving in the plaza, he turns in the direction of Yotsuba's house.]

[Great success, hand holding is awesome.

Once they're in sight of her house, Yotsuba picks up the pace and ends up dragging Jay a little if he's still just walking.]

Home, we made it, there's my house!

[Oh yay. Jay jogs to keep up with her as they reach the doorstep.]

Here. All better now?

[Well she's happy right now that she's home so:]

Yes!

[But then she remembers her plan, and waiting for Otonashi to find her. Tilting her head to one side as she pushes the door open.]

Kinda.

"Kinda?"

Oh, right...you'll be stuck with him again, won't you? Well, did you have any success finding out Nowy's treasured belongings?

[Yep, it's back to the mission.]

[Gosh it's all action with you Jay. Give her a moment to think about this, she hasn't had much time to find out these sorts of things with Otonashi being gone.]

...Nnno. Yotsuba knows Nowy can't cook though, how's that?

[That's all she's learnt. orz]

[But it's been a couple of weeks since they've discussed this.]

Hmm...there's not much we can do with that information...but I'll keep it in mind, just in case. Just make sure not to eat anything he cooks if you know what's good for you.

[Ponder, ponder...well, since they're right here at Nowy's house...]

Hmm...is anyone home now?

[But she also needs time in her daily schedule to be a sailor soldier, fight evil, be a pirate and so on. It's a hectic life!]

He doesn't cook ever, Yuri doesn't cook ever... We eat out a lot now.

[Poking her head in the house and looking left and right.]

Can't see anyone. [They're probably out looking for her.]

[But how can you do all that stuff without proper training?]

Well, at least you won't have to worry about spending money eating out all the time.

[And since they've determined that no one else is home...]

In that case, would you mind showing me around the house?

[It's an innocent idea, honest!]

[By playing pretend and using lots of imagination!]

All you can eat, free food, yum.

[She sees no problem with letting Jay in and showing him around. It'll be like having a friend over! Pushing the door open, stepping inside and offering her hand out for a handshake.]

Okay! Welcome to my bumble home, all aboard!

[But this stuff is SRS BSNS.]

[Jay reaches out for the handshake as she invites him in. He's really only interested in Naoi's room, but he'll check out all the rooms...just in case.]

And what is a "bumble home?"

[She can pretend to be serious?!]
