THREE ⌘ Yotsuba and Eating Out [Video]

Hey. Heeey!

[She's talking to you, journal.]

There's no money here. Why don't we eat out every day, every single day? Back home we got some milk, it was really eckspensive! 600 yen, and it was good. But why don't we drink that milk here? If there's no money and everything is free then it would cost... No yen.

Yotsuba wants to go to a restaurant and eat today. Is that okay?

[For added effect her stomach starts to rumble.]

...It's really okay, right? Yotsuba wants to eat eyeball-fry. With a knife and fork! Even if it's still really cold it's a good idea, so everyone should come and eat with me.

[ she tries to sound casual. in fact? she's intel-gathering. ]

Come pick me up! [...] Please! Yotsuba lives in the fifth big house, the really big one with lots of people in it. In room uh...

[Holding up two fingers.

...Wait wait wait. Is that a six? An eight? A twenty-six?

[ she's already pulling her boots on. ]

[Staring at her fingers...]

Well that's a two. And this is a six... Yeah, that's a twenty six. Twenty six, two and six. Bingo!

[ it doesn't take her too long to find where she needs to be. though there is a moment of doubt as she passes by apartments two and six. eventually, though, she climbs to twenty-six.

[The door is quickly answered by one excited little girl who might just have been sitting, staring at the door whilst waiting for someone to knock.

She's also go a certain pirate's coat wrapped around her to keep warm.]

Ahoy! Welcome to my bumble home!

Don't you mean hu--hey. That coat. Where'd you...?

[ she crouches, reaching for a trailing sleeve. of course she knows that coat well. she's been buttoned up into it, a few times. used it as a blanket. pillow. hanky. ]

Captain Jack gave it to me to keep warm. It's full of style, just like Yotsuba!

[Snuggling her head down and rubbing her cheek against the fabric.]

Yotsuba managed to wash it with soap and everything, smells real good!

Oh. Boy. He's gonna love that. [ a dry murmur as she draws her palm across the coat's shoulder. noting how it swamps the girl. though it's good to hear that jack at least had tried to look out for the girl. progress, perhaps?

progress into being what he used to already be.

buffy smiles. ] A great man gave him that coat. He'll be looking to get it back, I'll bet.

[Just watching as Buffy seems to touch and look at the coat, clearly examining Yotsuba's wonderful job of washing the thing. Yes, she's quite proud of how she managed with it.]

That's why Yotsuba took care of it and washed it, because that shows how much Yotsuba cares!

[Shuffling out the door and pulling it closed behind her.]

All set, ready for adventure!

Oh. Sure. But adventuring means dragging that poor just-cleaned coat through the slush. That's it. I'm carrying you.

[ sure. it's all to protect the coat. ]

[Staring at the nice heap of coat around her on the floor.]

Yotsuba wouldn't want that! It would be the opposite of clean!

[But hey, being carried. That's something.]

Ohhh, how? Piggy back again?

...Is that what you want?

Yes.

Alright, alright.

[ she makes little come here gestures with her palms. ] But two times does not a habit make -- got it?

[Bundling up the coat so it doesn't drag all over the place as she shuffles on over.]

Okay, Yotsuba understands. But after this Yotsuba should have one more piggy back, 'cause three times is a charm. [Or something like that.]

One more. Save it for a rainy day.

[ she hoists the girl up onto her back. easy. and the familiar feel of jack's coat falls around her shoulders but the smell's all wrong. ]

But rainy days are for playing in puddles and going 'splash'! Piggy backs are for sunny days... And days where Yotsuba doesn't want to walk.

[Placing her hands gently on Buffy's head to keep herself steady once she's up there.] Really tall again, whoah! Never gets old!

What about snowy days?

[ she brought them back out into the cold -- and found herself grateful for the pirate's borrows coat cloaking at least some of her shoulders. ]

Ohhh, snowy days can be both! Yotsuba can go make a snowman and then get a piggy back, then make another snowman! Then a snow angel.

[Idly kicking her legs back and forth for the duration of the ride, looking around once they're both outside.]

Everything looks different when you're high up!

Wouldn't know. Always been short.

[ she makes short work of the walk, chattering away as they went. ]

But you're really tall, don't lie!

[Tall by five year old standards anyway.

Once they've arrived she'll start wiggling around in an attempt to get back down.]

Rides over, time to get off!

That's it. Now? It's your job to insist to everyone that I'm really tall.

[ at the door, she drops yotsuba gently inside -- avoiding the snow altogether. ]

You can pick the table. So long as it's an awesome one.

[Gaaasp.] Awesome?! Yotsuba can handle awesome, just watch, watch!!

[Dashing off to find a window seat, because window seats are the best places ever. You get to eat and look outside. What's not to love?

Once she's found a table that she's happy with, and it looks like she put some thought into it having sat down at two other tables before this one, she gives Buffy a wave.]

See? Do you see, it's awesome!

...The awesomest.

[ she falls into the seat across from yotsuba, shedding her own coat quickly and draping it over the back of the chair.

she crosses her arms on the table, flicking open a menu with her thumb. ] What d'ya want?
